T-Mobile partnered with PaperFoam® to create a smarter, cleaner way to ship its Speedport Smart router. The result? A plastic-free, frustration-free packaging concept that aligns with T-Mobile’s sustainability ambitions. Without sacrificing strength, style or brand recognition.
Purposeful design, sustainable delivery
When T-Mobile set out to redesign the packaging for its Speedport Smart router, the goal was crystal clear: reduce plastic and minimize impact. The new design swaps out traditional plastic inlays for lightweight, industrial-strength PaperFoam® cushioning on both sides of the device. It’s a subtle but powerful shift, one that keeps the router secure during shipping while cutting back on waste.
Less waste, more impact
The router is protected by two custom-molded PaperFoam® end caps that lock the device in place inside a sleek cardboard box. These precision-fitted elements replace traditional foam or plastic with a bio-based alternative that’s compostable, recyclable and impressively strong.
No extra padding, no loose parts. Just a streamlined solution that reflects the simplicity and confidence of the T-Mobile brand. It’s minimalism with a mission.
A clean fit for a bold brand
Visually, the packaging reflects the clarity and confidence of T-Mobile’s identity. The bright magenta inner print pops against the natural tones of the PaperFoam® material, creating contrast without excess. No loose inserts or fillers, just a neat, reliable system that arrives intact and looks the part.
Proof that tech can ship smarter
This design shows that robust protection and sustainability can go hand in hand. With PaperFoam®, T-Mobile cuts down on emissions and plastic, while enhancing the customer experience through a cleaner, lighter and more responsible solution.
